number 7

I think a lot of people ask the question, out of those hundres and thousands of jews why was Anne dedicated after the holocaust? Inspite of the jews who wrote diaries like Anne did during the holocaust I think they weren't dedicated because Anne had a unique personality which was a very outgoing and naughty personality but there was something in Annes mind that stopped her from being afraid. An example is when the Germans know that they were in the secret annex Anne doesn't ask Peter "What are we going to do? Are we going to die?" No she says to Peter look at the skies aren't they beautiful? And she makes jokes up to make him feel better even though they are about to get sent to the concentration camps and eventually die. This scene I would consider very ironic, but if it was Anne's point of view it wouldn't be strange to her because it is her own personality that she knows better than anyone else does and that makes her so special.

Question 5 F

The 8 jews in this scene celebrate hannukah and getting presents that aren't very valuable in price but were valuable in heart and a lot of thought was put into those presents from Anne. By looking at Mr. Dussel's reaction and questions, he didn't seem to be a jew at all, he didn't even know what Hannikah was. Anyways when all this happy celebration is resuming there is this distraction where the green police actually come in the building, and there is this sudden silence where everyone becomes so still that they don't move a bit. Because of this persistency of silence the green police are about to leave until Peter's cat tips of a can and makes a noise, this is when the police assume that there are people in the building, but fortunately the cat cries and the green police leave. Peter's cat had made the possibilities higher for them to go to the concentration camp.

conflicts

These are the conflicts by the end of scene three
Anne and Peter: They don't like eachother because Anne hid peter's shoes and it becomes more of a big deal. They make a lot of noise making it dangerous for the other 6 to get caught by the green police
Anne and Mr. Van daan: Mr. Van Daan tells her off by saying she is noisy and annoying. This is also dangerous because of the loudness, and if they weren't to get along with eachother they wouldn't trust eachother to be safe making it dangerous for each and one of them.
Mr. Van Daan and Mrs. Van Daan: Mrs. Van Daan argues that Mr. Van Daan is using too much money on smoking cigarrettes. This could be dangerous to the people in the secret annex because Mr. Van Daan might have a possibility of getting some cigarrettes out of the building.

5 question c

In page 383 it shows Peter having teenage attitudes towards his own mother. (Mrs. Van Daan) "Now is that anyway to talk to your little girlfriend?" (PEter) "Mother.. for heaven's sake ... will you please stop saying that?" (Mrs. Van Daan) "Look at him blush! Look at him!" (Peter) "Please! I'm not... anyway... let me alone will you? THis indicates that he has a typical attitude to her mother because teenagers at this age are usually shy and have cooties with girls. I think that Anne doesn't have a typical attitude like Peter does, she isn't embarrassed of being mature and being close to boys she actually encourages Peter to dance with her.

5 question B

I think that the hardest part of life in the secret annex is being discovered by the NAzi's which includes being quiet, not going to the bathroom, etc. But more specifically it would be really hard for me to not go to the bathroom from morning to night. I wouldn't be able to cope with it. But being quiet and sharing a room with a stranger is no problem with me unless I don't live. Because if we get caught thats it, we don't have a choice but to die. And also faith of the people keeping us safe is another major fear. Because they could easily tell the dutch that we are here by being threatened to go to the concentration camps by the Nazi's.

A. questions 5

I think that the quote "But always remember this Anneke. There are no walls, there are no bolts, no locks that anyone can put on your mind." I think before this quote Mr. Frank is trying to say is that they are now caged and have to live in a new environment but in this quote he is trying to say that no one can control her future and what she desires, which means there is still hope for her and that she can make her dream come true once the holocaust is over. And after he says that Mr. Frank talks about studying and educating her so her chances of her dream could be high. I think that this statement is not always true there could be times when your parents control your future and want what you don't want. But in Anne's situation I think she has the power to do what she wants because she has such a stubborn personality.

Foreshadowing

I think that MR. Frank breaks down crying when he sees the glove because it reminds him of his wife, because it said that it was a woman's glove. It gives him bad memories of his family being killed in the concentration camps and he was the only survivor out of those 8 people so he feels very bad and kind of guilty. He feels as if he didn't have anything to live for anymore because of the loss of his family

Theme Anne Frank

I think the theme of this play is how Anne's character changes after being in the holocaust and having a really strange environment. First of all she isn't used to not going to the bathroom from the morning to mid-day, and she has to be very quiet and can't be too loud as usual. Because of these limitations, Anne goes through an internal conflict. She accidentally spills milk on Mrs. Van Daan's fur coat, and her parents discipline her but at that time Anne gets angry by saying why MArgot is always right and she is always wrong. She develops jealousy of her sister and has a strong conflict with her mother.

Prejudice

Prejudice is something I have known since 5th grade, from social studies class, when were learning about the Irish people moving into America. The Irish were discriminated by the Americans, because the Americans thought that they didn't fit in or they were totally a whole different group because of their religion and they were from a different country. They were pre-judging them by just looking at what they were, maybe the religion wasn't but still they didn't really get to know them and as soon as they saw them they didn't like them. The word Prejudice came from the word Pre-jugding, thats what I read in a book called "The 7habits of highly affective teenagers." After that I continuosly learned about prejudice even in my health class in sixth grade. Prejudice usually is always a negative case, because even when you judge people by how they look. People could pre-judge you by saying you're a really good basketball player by just making one shot in, and actually you're not even close to good. So it is always good to judge people when you're are really confident that you believe of that person is true. That's why there have been racism during the mid 1900's, black people have been discriminated just because of their color, and Jews in the holocaust were pre-judged by the Nazi's just because of what they thought of them was wrong, but they weren't really sure of that mostly they didn't care there wasn't a good reason of killing them. Now a days prejudice has reduced to a minimum but still there are little issues behind the scenes like when you go to a new school and they make fun of how you look or what you do.

holocaust

Holocaust
What I know of the holocaust currently is that Jewish people were very conscious of the Nazi's breaking into their houses and sending them to the concentration camps. Because of this kind of experience Jewish people went into secret houses owned by other people, this was called the secret annex. Also this was during World War I. Germany was in a war with the whole world and conquered most of Europe, so even though Jewish reugees eluded to other countries they would most probably still be caught as well as they could in Germany. In the holocaust their was a policy where the Germans had to believe what ever the Government said, especially the status in the World War. Because of this no one was aloud to have a radio because the radio had English broadcasting which actually told the truth than actually positive news to the Germans. This pretty much all I know about the Holocaust, and I hope to know more in the future.

Red scarf girl (setting)

In the story "Red scarf girl" Ji-li is very cautious and very sensitive to her environment after she finds out she is included in the black category, which is the class status that was bourgeious and totally contrary to Chairman Mao's teachings and laws. But however because a conflict between her and the environment shes surrounded with it also affects her in where she is; the setting. For an example Ji-li is not safe in her own house because of her grandfather's political status influences, she has a lot of insecure issues. in page 132 it says "At first we could not hear much. Then we heard more: doors slamming, a cry from Hua-hua, crash after crash of dishes breaking overhead, and the indistinct voices of the Red Guards." This quote explains that Ji-Li is not in a safe environment. An even more relevant example is almost to the end of the book on page 253 the content a character called thin face slaps Ji-li's grandma on the face. Now this is one
setting another setting is in her school. At her primary school she wasn't very happy because every student new that she was in a bad political status, and all of them criticized her for that. But then when she moved into junior high school everything changed her self esteem rose up because none of the students really new her background, it was a fresh new start. The school and her house are the two main settings that influence her.

Red scarf girl (Theme)

The theme in the story "Red scarf girl" is about how China changes over time, and how the changes in the country affects the people. For example in the beginning of the story people try to break down shops and other buildings that express the four olds, which are old customs that need to be destroyed and made different. But I think it is too strict because no one could have alot of glamorous clothes, jewelry or other things that could be considered as a fourold. That is why victoms argue alot of about this issue. They get caught by the red guards who check people's houses making sure that they don't have any material that represent fourolds, and even if you where something thats a little tight they consider it as a fourold. Most of these ideas come from the citizens, I think that Chairman Mao just said you should go by new customs, but the people made it even more strict by thinking that tight clothes are apart of fourolds, or saying certain old words are fourolds. This law has influenced alot of chinese people and in my opinion I don't think it is a very good thing at all.

Red scarf girl (characterization)

In the story "Red scarf girl" the main character Ji-Li Jiang has a very strict comittment to abide by the rules of Chairman Mao which affects her feelings to her friends, family, and herself. An example is when Song Po Po leaves she says that it is a good thing that she is leaving because it isn't exploiting her, if I were her I would be really sad and wouldn't event think of the four olds. And because of the four olds she becomes angry with herself, when Ji-Li couldn't be a re successor it was because her grandfather was a landlord that made an internal conflict with herself because her friends started to not like her and she becomes very depressed.

The double black diamond

This has been quite recent and not as brave than someone who took a risk and saved someone's life, but brave enough to be encouraged. Well the story was in a ski resort in muju, the trip was accompanied by the dorm so my R.A, Mr. Eric came along too. I have learned how to ski for about 2 years so I was kind of bored by the low sloped mountains, so I went to the highest mountain(double black diamond) with Mr. Eric. At first I thought 'It's not gonna be a big deal' but when the lift took almost 10 minutes and saw the people falling down the immensley high mountain I was quite afraid. But still I wasn't that amazed by the slope until I phisically saw it with my own eyes I said to myself "What have I put myself into?!" Yes it was high enough that you could only hear the swishing of the cold dry winds and high enough you coudn't see the end of the slope. But still if I didn't get down their I would have probably been discouraged, so I tok the courage and went down the slope at first very slowly. Because it was so high up all the snow turned into ice and my ski's couldn't really turn as well on the snow and that was when I had slipped and fell down for the first time when I started to get good at skiing. The slope was so high and slippery that when I fell down i kept on sliding down it, after about sliding 30 meters I tried to get up and that was when Mr. Eric fell down too. We both got up and started to head down again. The winds were so strong it looked like a blizzard raging in your eyes. but down to the point where there were more people around I was comfortable skiing at a great speed. And finally for skiing about 30 minutes I came down to the end of the slope. Meanwhile Mr. Eric fell down again so it took him about 5 minutes more. I was quite proud of myself of taking the courage and going on it rather than not attempting to go on it. And I feel thankful for my mom because if she didn't send me to ski camp I wouldn't even went on the ski trip. THis will probably be a memory for all my life.
